Volvo World Match Play Championship

After a short break Richard returned to the fairways of Spain and played in the Volvo World Match Play Championship.

The restricted field 24 man event took place over the stunning Finca Cortesin Resort in Casares, Andalucia. Richard qualified for his place in the event courtesy of his 3rd place finish in the Volvo China Open due to the fact that Branden Grace and Nicolas Colsaerts had previously qualified.

Richard lost to Rafael Cabrera-Bello on Friday morning but beat Germany's Martin Kaymer on the final green in the afternoon. He proceeded to the last 16 and came up against Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell who won the match 3 and 2.

The field of 24 players will be drawn into eight groups of three.
