Recharging the Batteries
Posted: 13th July 2010
Hi All,
I hope you all enjoyed the summer weather - whilst it lasted!!
I am currently having a week off from tournament golf as I'm not in The Open Championship this year and I feel this is a good time for me to now recharge the batteries ahead of the Scandinavian Masters and the Irish Open.
The last few weeks have been very busy beginning with the BMW International Open in Munich at the end of June. All was going quite well in Germany until the back nine holes of the final round when I had a "shocker" and ended up finishing in tied 61st position! The French Open at Le Golf National in Versailles just outside of Paris proved to be a solid week resulting in a finishing position of tied 26th - the course really is one of the best we have the privilege of playing on all year.
Whilst in France I received a last minute call up to participate in the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am at Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Resort in Ireland who play host to the event which takes place every five years and is attended by many of the worlds top professional golfers to raise money for local charities. It was an honour and a great event to take part in, but it was also a very busy two days resulting in me not arriving at Loch Lomond until lunchtime on the Wednesday.
The Scottish Open is my favourite event of the season and I know the course very well but I didn't hit the ground running as it were and I ended up putting in a poor performance and missing the cut with plenty to spare, it did teach me the importance of proper preparation for a tournament though!
The upcoming events, the Scandinavian Masters and the 3 Irish Open are both at courses I never played before but the reports that I've heard so far are that they are both fantastic so I'll be getting there in good time to familiarise myself with them.
The momentum is also picking up at home this week with plans to build a new house later in the year are really taking shape.
BREAKING NEWS. www.richardfinch.net will be coming to a computer screen near you soon! I've decided to enter the modern era and have my own website which will give people more information about my sponsors and my golf in general.
Goodbye for now!
